Website and SMS messaging terms.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Hamilton Methodist Church website, member portal, and our SMS (text-message) program. By using our site or opting in to text messages, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. Use of the Website & Portal

You agree to use the website and portal only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else's use of them. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your portal account credentials.

2. SMS Messaging Program — Terms & Conditions

Program description

Hamilton Methodist Church operates an SMS program to keep our congregation informed and connected. Once you opt in, we may send you messages including:

  • Transactional alerts — event registration confirmations, child check-in/check-out alerts, service reminders, and other account or activity-related updates.
  • Conversational messages — replies to your inquiries and direct communication from staff or volunteers.
  • One-Time Passcodes (OTPs) — security codes for child check-in and account verification.

How to opt in

You can opt in by entering your phone number and checking the "I agree to receive text messages" box on any of our forms (member portal profile, contact form, or prayer/assistance request form), or by giving consent in person to a church representative.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on church activity and the programs you participate in. You will typically receive fewer than 10 messages per month, but volume may be higher around holidays, special events, or for parents using check-in.

Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Hamilton Methodist Church does not charge you for messages, but your mobile carrier may. Check with your carrier for details about your plan.

Opt-out (STOP)

You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT) to any message. After you send the STOP message, we will reply with a confirmation, and you will not receive any further messages from us. To opt back in, sign up again from your portal preferences or text START.

Carrier disclaimer

Carriers (including but not limited to T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy

See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your phone number and personal information. We will never share your mobile opt-in data or phone number with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

3. Donations

Donations made through this website are processed by a third-party payment processor and are non-refundable except as required by law or our discretion in cases of clear error.

4. Disclaimers

The website and portal are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hamilton Methodist Church disclaims all warranties, express or implied.

5. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the site or SMS program after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
